To all parents and carers,
Author Sue Klauber visited Rokesly Juniors on 23rd March! We learned all about her family's experience during WW2, had a go at our own code breaking activity, and listened to an extract from her debut novel, Zinc.
If you didn't order a book before this event, you still can! All the books ordered from 23rd March onwards will be brought to the school and handed out to your child before the Easter holidays.
Remember to include your child's name and class in the 'notes to the book fairy' when you view your shopping cart before checkout! If this option isn't available to you, please email olivia@pickledpepperbooks.co.uk with the relevant details.
Zinc
It is World War 2 and brothers George and John and their sister Eva are each fighting in their own way. Secret agent George is parachuted into Slovakia in an Operation codenamed Zinc, John breaks codes at Bletchley Park, while Eva is stranded in enemy-occupied Hungary. Based on the extraordinary real-life stories of Sue Klauber's father, uncle and aunt, she wrote Zinc for her son to celebrate the full and heroic engagement of their North London Jewish family in the fight against tyranny.
